The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a body charged with conducting the centralized test for recruitment to the posts of Probationary Officers/ Management Trainees on behalf of Participating Organizations. The online examination (Preliminary and Main) for Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee posts in the Participating Organizations (listed later) is tentatively scheduled in October.
LIST OF PARTICIPATING ORGANISATIONS
The candidates are advised to regularly keep in touch with the authorised IBPS website www.ibps.in for details and updates.
(i) The examination will be conducted online in venues across many centres in India.
(ii) No request for change of exam centre shall be entertained.
(iv) The IBPS can also allot the candidate to any centre other than the one he/she has opted for.
The aspiring candidates should ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria specified by the IBPS. Please note that the eligibility criteria specified here are the basic criteria for the post. You have to produce the relevant documents in original in support of eligibility – pertaining to category, nationality, age, educational qualifications etc.
No change of category will be permitted at any stage after online application. No request for considering the candidature under any category other than the one in which applied will be entertained.
I. Nationality / Citizenship A candidate must be
(i) An Indian citizen OR
(ii) a subject of Nepal OR
(iii) a subject of Bhutan OR
(iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 to settle in India OR
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam to settle in India, provided a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the government.
Minimum: 20 years
Maximum: 30 years
The candidates seeking age relaxation will have to submit the necessary certificate(s) in original/ copies at the time of Interview to the IBPS/ Participating Organization(s).
III. Educational Qualifications: A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. of India or any equivalent qualification.
The candidate must possess a valid Marks-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he / she registers and indicate the percentage obtained in Graduation while registering online.
IBPS- CWE – ONLINE EXAMINATION
I. Though the Preliminary examination is for 1 hour, the candidates may be required to spend about 2 hours due to various formalities.
II. Penalty for Wrong Answers (Preliminary and Main examination)
For each wrong answer, one-fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty. For questions not attempted, there will be no penalty.
IBPS Tier 1 – Preliminary Exam Pattern

Those who qualify the IBPS Preliminary Exam are called for the Mains Exam, which will be conducted as per the following pattern.
Penalty for Wrong Answers:
There is a penalty for wrong answers marked in both preliminary examination as well as mains examination. A wrong answer to an objective question will lead to a penalty of one-fourth of the total mark assigned to that question. There will be no penalty for the question left blank or unanswered.
The corrected scores of the candidate will be normalized using the equi-percentile method.
Scores up to two decimal points shall be taken for calculation.
Each candidate has to get a minimum score in each test and also a minimum total score, to be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the vacancies available, cutoffs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interviews.
THE MARKS OBTAINED IN THE MAIN EXAMINATION ONLY WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR SHORTLISTING THE CANDIDATES FOR INTERVIEW AND FINAL MERIT LISTING.
Those shortlisted in the main examination will be called for an Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organizations. The total marks allotted for the Interview are 100, with a minimum of 40% marks required to qualify it. The combined final score is computed on the basis of the scores obtained in the Main Examination and Interview.
On completion of the interview process, depending on the vacancies to, based on the business needs of the Participating Organizations, the candidates shortlisted will be provisionally allotted to one of the Participating Organizations, based on merit-cum-preference. The offer of appointment is solely the decision of the Participating Organizations and shall be final and binding and the IBPS shall have no role therein.
